Board of Trustees

Tauranga Primary School’s Board of Trustees was elected in 2010 for a 3-year term. It comprises 5 parent representatives, the Principal and a representative of the staff. Meetings are scheduled for the third and eighth Wednesday of each term, and they are held in the staff-room. Parents who wish to attend any of the meetings, need only inform any of the Trustees at least 24 hours beforehand.

Welcome from the Chairman

At the beginning and the end of each day, you will see a stream of happy students passing through the gates of our school. Their eager attitude illustrates Tauranga Primary’s philosophy of Powerful Learning that supports their individual needs, while giving them a sense of belonging to a greater whole, thereby enabling them to become positive citizens of the future.

The Tauranga Primary community is made up of dedicated and supportive parents and caregivers, a fantastic group of children, and professional teaching staff who are enthusiastic and committed to providing excellent programmes for our students.

Our teachers use up to date teaching methods and knowledge to provide a strong focus on the basic skills of literacy and numeracy. At the same time, they empower children to use their powerful learning competencies, steadily to develop their own learning skills. Most importantly, we want our children to do all of this in an environment that makes them feel safe and strong.

The Board of Trustees is immensely proud of our school, and is committed to developing and managing our environment and resources carefully. We are also very proud of the academic, cultural, and sporting successes that our students achieve. Our proudest moment, though, occurs each year when we hear the farewell messages from our Year 6 pupils, and we realize how much they value the TPS community. With the wisdom of their 6 years of primary school experience behind them, we know they are ready for the challenges ahead.
